The Plant Hunter: Book Talk, Q&A and Signing in Tucson
Friday, November 13, 2026 · 5:30 PM
Iris Cantor Building, Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine, University of Arizona
Dr. Cassandra Quave is coming to Tucson for a free evening talk on The Plant Hunter: A Scientist’s Quest for Nature’s Next Medicines.
From the flooded forests of the Amazon to remote mountains in the Balkans, Dr. Quave has spent her career searching plants used by traditional healers for clues to new medicines. Her goal is to find new ways to fight antibiotic-resistant superbugs, one of the most urgent threats in modern medicine. In this talk, she shares stories from the field and the lab, and what it has meant to build a career in field science as a mother and amputee.
The evening includes a one-hour talk and Q&A, followed by book sales and signing.
